When the problems of life seem insurmountable, people frequently look to a church for relief. The churches in the Greater Beaufort area have combined in one organization, HELP of BEAUFORT, to respond to those who need assistance. In this way, churches can carry out the Gospel mandate to feed the poor and clothe the naked.

HELP Mobile Meals: The Mobile Meals Program of HELP Of Beaufort began in January, 1983. The goal of the program is to provide a hot, diatary-correct meal five days a week for disabled, handicapped or otherwise housebound individuals who are unable to cook for themselves. The area presently served is Beaufort and Port Royal and will be expanded as drivers are available for additional locations.
The meals are prepared as Beaufort Memorial Hospital and special diets are accommodated on the instructions of a physician.

The meals are delivered by volunteer drivers who donate the use of their cars and pay for their own gasoline. The volunteers normally work one day a week for about one hour at noon.

The United Way of Beaufort subsidizes this program by providing funding for the part-time coordinator and cost of meals for those who cannot afford them.

Christmas Program:
50 to 75 families are selected to receive a
Christmas basket of food for the holidays.
Mobile Meal clients each receive a special Christmas gift.
